  1. Gold Box SSI's Gold Box Series Thread

I did, pretty much all luck & some reloads. Most of the gold box games were that way.. team to get a turn & throw a fireball first won most battles. :) You didn't miss much with the ending! "Ok, so now we'll make everyone forget you just saved the world. Good job!" You can turn down the...
  2. Dialogue cards

Sounds interesting. Don't bother visiting the game's domain:
  3. Spiderweb software

You might as well just try it. None of can tell you if you'd like them.
  4. Jade Empire is... really fucking short.

Yuppers, I saw a speed run of it in the 1 hour range. I think PST lasted me about 10 hours when I first played, but I missed a lot of stuff by being skimpy on the wrong stats.
  5. RPG Maker VX

I'm using it to make a commercial puzzle-ish game, basically Lufia 2 without boring monster fights & grinding/10 minute cutscenes. It's a fun little tool and the mapping is super quick, but you're very restricted to either blockiness in tiles or some extremely hard to use workarounds. It...
  6. Eschalon Book II announced

I can't see the new hunger & thirst bars being enjoyable, but that depends how well he handles it. Added tedium of clicking on food & drinks every couple minutes ain't much fun imo. But if it only goes away after major activities/scripted situations and (rare) special monster attacks make you...
  7. Original Neverwinter Nights OC Outline

I just skimmed it, but some of that sounds much more interesting that the finished campaign did. Madness would've fun to play around with. :)
  8. Games you regret buying

Al Qadim: The Genie's Curse. Asheron's Call. Beyond Divinity. Quantum Gate. Starship Titanic. Non-PC: Battle Blaze. Grand Theft Auto 4. Boooooooring. The Bouncer. Square's only 2 hour movie action game thingy - should've read reviews first.
  9. What are some good turn-based strategy games?

For short games, you might enjoy these two if they're you like the strategy games where you send armies around to conquer the map. Generally gets boring after a half hour or so and every match is the same-ish because they didn't bother to include different maps to play on... Defender of the...
  10. Free Fallout on GameTap

It's on there free right now. Download the player and click around through the free game genres. Adventure: Blood Omen 2, Deus Ex, Hitman 1/2, Tomb Raider something, Psychonauts, Myst & Thief 3 RPG: Mr. Robot & Morning's Wrath
  11. Free Fallout on GameTap

Hmm... I hope it won't be US-Only like all those D&D RPGs.
  12. Let's play - Wizardry 4: The Return of Werdna IRONMAN

Ouch. I've heard this one was "difficult", but does it really kill you off that easily?
  13. Best past discontinued RPG settings?

Ravenloft. I wish they had used it better other than those two 3D-whatever games. The idea of gothic worlds filled with nightmarish denizens/lords, and travelling through the mists to different ones during your adventure could've been great.
