  1. Need opinions on how good are a few games im considering.

Wasteland is difficult, but interesting so easily completed by anyone with a brain. Unlike Deathlord which was mentioned in another thread, which is difficult and boring. Once you get to Quartz, the game opens up and you realise just how brilliant Wasteland is. Seriously.
  2. VD's Survival Guide

Don't worry, one day there will be a box that says "Remember Fallout?"
  3. Forgotten oldies - ZX Spectrum games

The C64 was my rig way back when. Some of the first games I played: http://www.mobygames.com/game/c64/war-of-the-lance Played the crap out of that one, many, many times. http://www.mobygames.com/game/c64/paradroid Brilliant. Still brilliant today...
  4. FO3-specific nerd-rage thread, with extra lulzy quotes.

This has been done since Garriot. His idea on creating the storyline actually fit around what he could create for the game. A piano that worked? Make it a quest line. A magic carpet that flew? add it in as a story point and part of a quest line.
  5. Far Cry 2, Still looking pretty cool.

Cannot lean? No prone? I thought this was Far Cry 2? There is no way I could have made it through the monkey jungle in FC1 without crawling through half the forest. How is it on specs and performance?
  6. C64 emulation

Just wondering if anyone has a favourite C64 emulator that they would recommend? I am looking at replaying some of my old favourite RPG's, and the dos versions are just crap.
  7. FO3-specific nerd-rage thread, with extra lulzy quotes.

As has always been the case. Look at the Bioware games, graphics up, gameworld smaller, less dialogue, less quests, less companions, less challenge, etc. Same with the Elder Scrolls. Shit, same as what happened to the Ultima's Graphics have been a real killer when it comes to...
  8. Preview Oblivion - a game for Casual Joe

You should hate it. The Casual Gamer term has been the biggest excuse for companies to dumb things down for years now.
  9. FO3-specific nerd-rage thread, with extra lulzy quotes.

About the Fallout cave; That is impossible. Nobody can be that stupid. As a kid I was playing games that make Fallouts difficulty seem like fucking fairy cakes, and this guy found it difficult leaving a cave with only one exit? Then headed south on the map thingie, totally missing the green...
  10. Deathlord - Apple //e & Commodore 64 Party Based RPG

Sounds like a glitched copy. I had this back on the C64, as already stated insanely difficult. It had the old system of "Character dies, game saves" so you basically had to always save on a copy of the disk. Some might regard this as cheating; anyone that has played this thing will know it is...
  11. Preview VATS slow motion may be the worst crime against video gaming

Not quite correct. I have lost count of the amount of times where a reviewer says how brilliant a game is, gives it a 10/10 and a month or two later joins in on the dumping if many people actually think it sucks. Not to join the chorus, but Oblivion is a poster child for this reaction. It is...
  12. Turn based tactical combat.

Except that it doesn't tell you that the goblins left ass cheek was ripped off, causing some discomfort.
  13. Turn based tactical combat.

Sounds pretty good! What is the rest of the game like?
  14. Dragon Age: There Goes The Neighborhood

The Baldurs gate games were pretty good, and had some toughish battles. Apart from that the rest have been far too easy in that aspect. Some of the content included in all the games has been good. If only they were a bit more challenging and tactical.
  15. Turn based tactical combat.

I used dosbox and everything worked fine. I haven't played Wizards crown or Eternal Dagger, how would you describe the combat in relation to the goldbox games? And what makes them better?
