  1. SPORE: Chris "Cute" Hecker, remember him.

Seriously flawed analysis. Not many of the reviews complaining about the gameplay will actually use the words 'dumbing down'. They might say the gameplay is shallow, or that there is no challenge, or that it's more suitable for ten year olds, or any one of a hundred other phrases - all of...
  2. Spore out soon

The only reason I would recommend someone even download & install Spore, is so they'll have an informed opinion from which to slate the game heavily.
  3. Spore out soon

Will Wrights reaction to critics, from an MTV interview: "We were very focused, if anything, on making a game for more casual players. “Spore” has more depth than, let’s say, “The Sims” did. But we looked at the Metacritic scores for “Sims 2″, which was around 90, and something like...
  4. Games you regret buying

Oblivion Neverwinter Nights Neverwinter Nights 2 (fool me twice, shame on me) Pirates of the Burning Seas City of Heroes Medieval 2 Total War
  5. The Codex Top 10, take 2

    Bloodlines Morrowind ---- Fallout Fallout 2 Gothic 3 ---- BG2 NWN Wizardry 8 Daggerfall
  6. Do you play to win?

My view is pretty much the same as MountainWest. I play to win, but it doesn't necessarily follow that I don't enjoy losing. It's the challenge that I enjoy. Some games are easier than others, and some provide you the freedom to create your own 'challenges' as it were. Roleplaying games are...
  7. Mount & Blade .890 released

I haven't played M&B since 0.632 Anyone care to give me a brief summary of the major changes since then?
  8. Direct Download or Boxed Edition. Which would you buy?

Direct download all the way. I have enough clutter in my flat already.
  9. New Total War game announced

I agree with TalesFromTheCrypt. Medieval: Total War was great, but Rome & Medieval 2 were both so Micromanagement heavy as to put me off completely. The micromanagement of a dozen types of agent, the tech tree at every castle or town, bloodlines, titles & so forth just wasn't my idea of fun.
  10. Anyone wanna buy some games?

More accurately, it's all the ones I have legal copies of.
  11. Anyone wanna buy some games?

Nah... I still have a bunch of, um, backed-up games in case boredom strikes badly...
  12. Anyone wanna buy some games?

A couple of reasons really... 1) I need some cash, and I don't want to whore myself out as a pretty-boy to horny middle-aged businessmen. I might as well sell the games while they still have some value. 2) Most of them I never play any more. Those I do I've already completed a dozen times...
  13. Anyone wanna buy some games?

I know, I know... despite bitching about Oblivion here for 4 or 5 months prior to its release. Hypocritical, no? I was naively optimistic that it might be playable - or if not, fixable by mods (like Morrowind). Obviously I was very, very wrong...
  14. Anyone wanna buy some games?

I'm selling all my PC games on ebay. Many of them are compatible with the Codex Hive-Mind, so I thought you guys might be interested. Games here Normally I'll only bother to post to the UK, but for you lovely people I could make an exception (Assuming you cover extra postage costs)
  15. Bethesda opened Fallout 3 forums

Holy fucking shit. I got curious when you posted this and did some Googling. I suggest everyone read http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ Pretty fucking sobering stuff. Thanks for enlightening me. On the bright side, I need not feel irresponsible for not having started my pension...
