First impressions are bad, very bad. The 'strategic' element is so streamlined as to be non existent, no planetary building, just sliders. And whoever decided to go 3D for the research interface needs to be fisted by a gorilla.

The space combat doesn't get much better. Everything is crammed into a 3 foot box and your fleet teleports in right on top of the damn enemy. Homeworld proved that a space RTS could work wonderfully, how the hell did they manage to miss one of the most important parts of space combat - THE BLOODY SPACE.

Oh, and the 3 minute "watch the asteroids slowly approach your planet" battles are oodles of fun.

And the tutorial uses the word "simple" far to many damn times, sometimes even in combination with an exclamation mark.

Who the fuck is this meant to appeal to? 4x fans generaly ain't casual gamers.

Just when I thought Oblivion was one of the most simplified games to come out recently, SoTS comes out of nowhere to prove me wrong.

I could just repeat what Oarfish said, but I'd like to add that the "tactical" space combat combat comes nowhere close to Homeworld's quality.

Erm.... otherwise the other losers are kinda right. The game kinda felt sterile.

I like the 3d planetary interface, though!

I was expecting some disappointment from the gang, but not this much.

My problem with it wasn't that it was shit or anything like that. There was just no hook that made me want to load it up and keep playing. There was always something else I'd rather play or do.

The 3D starmap is great, though.

It would be if it let you move your fleets anywhere and not just between planets.
