True to form, GameSpy's just a little off on their materials. This is from a preview of the new NWN expansion:
One of my favorite additions to Shadows was the six prestige classes it added. They gave players an opportunity for more role-playing and the classes had some really interesting twists. Hordes also offers six new prestige classes. They are the plane shifter, the weapon master, the dwarven defender, the red dragon disciple, and the champion of Torm.
That's five classes, and I heard of only five prestige classes in SoU as well. Note to self: Keep GSI staff away from sanctified explosives.

Bio has stated 6 PrC should be in HOTU. Perhaps, BIO hasn't announced the 6th one yet; or something has chnaged to lower it to 5. Who knows. Too quick to blame Gamespy for the faux pas. Though; youa re right about there only being 5 in SOU. So,f or that, bash away at Gamespy. :D

Well, the GameSpot preview linked at the same time from NWVault says there are going to be five. I'll side with GameSpy on this one since the official site says six, but it's poor writing to say there are n new classes and state authoritatively that they are (insert n - 1 names).

It's also bad to screw up said class names, as in the following:
Similar to a kensei, the weapon waster is a stout fighter with ridiculous power attacks.

Like, say, discarding crossbows as soon as they run out of +5 Bolts of Riveting? Or does he mean swinging swords so hard they shatter when they make contact with inanimate objects like loot-filled barrels? Also, what if I want to be a skinny fighter? Must I be stout, even if I'm the stereotypical half-naked elven archer with 19 CHA?

And the shifter class has been named in multiple source and deals with shape shifting- not planes.
I hope they implement it right, though I doubt they will. Its been described a druid based several times, so they might be throwing out the prerequisite clause about wild shape OR able to cast polymorph self.

And why only champions of Torm, and only red dragon disciples?
It isn't possible to tweak these prestige classes so that you can pick one of several options? Much in the same way there are 8 types of specialist wizards. Add a week to the dev cycle for the sake of player choice.

Love this line from the article:
One super-cool enhancement is the ability to take along two henchmen

Hurrah! TWO henchmen with bad AI running all over the place and getting killed. Much better.

You know why they're making two henchmen possible, right?

They want the specialist classes to be playable without significantly changing the game mechanics. So rather than giving wizards appropriate challenges, they can just make you take Daelan, Grimgnaw, and Linu along depending on whether undead are around.

Voss: The reason for the Divine Champion being for Torm is both Bio and WOTC fault. Here's why. BIO wnated to sue Ddivine Champion. However, in pnp it only has 5 levels; but in order for it to be extended by epic levels; a PrC needs to have 10 levels; not 5. With this in mind, BIO extended it to 10 levels. WOTC rejected that change so BIO was 'forced" to rename it Divine Champion of Torm for it be approved..

It still could have been done differently. It could have been named Holy Paragon or something and kept general rather than one god specific. You'd think they would have learned from the complaints about the Harper Scout being too campaign specific. This is even worse- not only campaign specific, but fairly class specific (particularly with the 3 class multiclass max), and explicitly god specific.

Or they could have kept it at 5 levels, and characters could mix and match levels of Paladin, fighter or cleric quite easily into the concept. This wouldn't work very well admittedly, but still...
