In general even faux isometric breaks realtime lighting engines because it triggers LOD (cascade stuff is idiosyncratic to begin with). Wouldn't be issue with megatexture but both industry and gamers "knew better".

It's not like they wouldn't want nice isometric minimap.

  • Acquire the GOG version of the game;
  • Download all necessary mods;
  • Download and configure Mod Organizer 2;
  • Backup everything.
That's it. Now Fallout 4 is your to "enjoy" until the end of times and no updates will break your game.

Or just pirate it. That's been the superior way to enjoy Bethesda games for decades. No automatic updates bricking your game, no funding an increasingly awful studio that shits on your head and calls it a chocolate sundae, etc. I suppose "acquire" can mean that, though, so if that's what you meant, kudos.

So - in addition to GOG and Steam in various versions - people will try injecting Script Extender in various cracked executables ...

GOG Galaxy has built-in downgrader - and it is probably the best way to avoid 'new' patch for first few months until the dust settles.

Unless you want to save few bucks - and you hate Bethesda but not their games - or something like that.
