PM to me, from CCNA:

If they had responded that would have been one thing, but I ask a simple question and get flamed for it? And then get flamed again when I clarify it? And, now I have to explain my actions. Fallout fans make my teeth ache.

I used to like the game, I even ordered the collection again so I could play it again. Nope, when it shows up, I will probably use it for a coaster for an oil can in my garage.

I hope you guys get the game you want, whatever that is. I for one, no longer care.

And this is the guy who is moderating the Fallout message boards.

The childish behavior this guy exhibits is mind-boggling.

I got a reply from Gstaff saying they were looking into the issue. After seeing that PM I have a feeling he had a talking to.

They also bought the Star Trek license. It was also raped by an incredibly bad game, which they hyped up to be the best Star Trek game ever.

Star Trek games always were kinda bad, but they managed to make it even worse.

So, who at the moment would be a better developer for Fallout?
And why would developing a Fallout game be better than making an original setting (Arcanum).

I think most of us know, on those forums we have to keep the gloves on or our voices soon wont be heard at all. If we are keeping the gloves on how fair is it for the one running the fight to come in with brass knuckles?

If a mod can flame at will, and then lock or delete a topic when it is done in kind to him, how fair is that? If I have to play by the rules, so should they is all I am saying.

A better developer? Obsidian maybe. Even Biowhore could do it better. Or Arkane Studios, the guys who made Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah. At least they show some talent.

Why make Fallout instead of something new?
Because you can paste a "3" on the box, and the 3 indicates that it is a sequel of something. Also, the Fallout games are popular enough to create some attention. It's all a matter of making money. You could also want to create a worthy sequel, but this is Bethesda, they even screw their own franchise in the ass, so that's not an option.

No, I meant, how is it better for us to get a new Fallout game rather than a new game?
Arcanum's setting is ten times better than Fallout's. 50s SF is pretty cool, but 1800s SF is so much fucking cooler.

Well, I see what you mean... but Bethsoft got the Fallout license, and they want to make profit through raping the Fallout series. Also, Bethsoft are not creative enough to invent something themselves. Especially a good and creative non-mainstream setting.

Still, getting a new Fallout game can be good, because it can build up on the already well developed setting and history. If it is done by the right people with the right intention [I miss you Troika :( ] it can be an amazing game.

Well let's see. I'll run down a list here....

Bethesda

-Ridiculous dumbing down
-Raping the lore of games they make
-Alienating the fanbase
-Demolishing critical parts of the game while adding nothing new in
-Car armor
-Buyable houses that could be made in 3 minutes with the construction set the developers use.
-Railroaded all the way.

Bioware
-Neo-Bioware morality will be at full strength; expect a good/evil meter.
-Totally expect romances, and for your romantic interest to be turned into a vampire....err mutant.
-Your character is always special. Probably the child of the great mutant Lord of Murder Bhaal. How shocking and unexpected (Is Bioware becoming the M. Night Shyamalan of CRPGs?)!
-Possibility of decent choices and consequences, though nothing Fallout level.
-East coast mutants will be dwares, gnomes, halflings, and elves....plenty of elves. On a side note, expect a winged mutant who lost her wings after being captured by a wasteland circus and put in a cage.
-Expect a lot of combat. It might be decent, but probably real time with pause, so the Codex will hate it.
-Maybe a decent story and characters, or maybe just more rehashing of everything Baldur's Gate. Expect to fight your half brothers and sisters.
-Obsidian will make Fallout 4.

Obsidian

-This game will not be finished or have an ending due to terrible publishers.
-Expect loads of references to the original and maybe Fallout 2.
-You'll probably fight or meet the ghosts of The Vault Dweller, The Chosen One, The Master, Dogmeat, and Frank Horrigan. Obsidian loves their ghosts.
-Expect a decent storyline and nifty writing that, while unfinished, will still be too fucking complicated for any of the console kiddies.
-Expect people like J.E. Sawyer to talk about how much the CRPG genre is bastardized and is being whored out while doing a lot of the things they are complaining about.
-Expect combat to be rather bad and have absolutely no challenge at all.
-Expect an influence system. They love this like Neo-Bioware loves their good/evil meter.
-Possibility of seeing Van Buren. Very slight however.

Piranha Bytes

-Expect bugs.
-Decent choices and consequences.
-More bugs.
-Fun enough gameplay, if a little action oriented.
-Bugs, bugs, bugs.
-A little too much focus on graphics, but RPG elements are pretty solid.
-They might as well nickname the project Bugs Bunny

Blizzard

-Will be a Monty Haul of epic proportions. Have fun with +6 Uber-Advanced Power Armor and +12 Quadruple Guass Plasma Autocannons.
-Online play so you can have fun with total fucktards.
-Expect a brahmin level.
-Expect monthly fees and some expansions.
-No story, no plot, no choices, just killing.
-Probably stays true to the lore though, at least.

Some Random Indie Developer

-Could be great, probably will be pretty decent.
-Will probably be ridden with bugs and have tons of issues.
-Will pretty much be the quality of a fan mod for Fallout 2.

Iron Tower Studios or Planewalker

-Probably will turn out real well in development
-Will take a long time
-Will have a slim chance of getting published or will have a jackass publisher.
-Probably will be quality but no one will ever play it because it doesn't have the graphics.

Interplay

-Will be a very cohesive work seeing as Interplay is basically a guy with a ten year old laptop in a carboard box.
-Will be done by the time we actually have power armor and plasma rifles in real life.

Every company on this list (besides Bethesda) would probably do a better job than them.

Im sure Bethesda will release Fallout 3 at the same time as for console. If were talking Biowhore then they would take up MS as publisher and release it for 360 only.

Personally I dont much understand the hate for Bethesda. They are far better than Biowhore simply because they havent completely whored themselves to consoles. Biowhore rose as a CRPG developer only to release shitty console trash while using as many buzz words as possible in every sentence they give away in their sponsored "interviews"(I dont doubt that some marketing guy just writes the stuff himself and sends it to IGN or Gamespot or whatever). These guys dont give a SHIT about true games, ideas and creativity nor the fans. Instead they take up 4 years of developing an engine that allows them show off unreal shadows.

God, I hate Bioware.

Never?
The oil shortage within the next 15 years and complete depletion within the next 30 will stop any serious industrial development and push us back to the 18 century. If you want to see a Fallout 3, they better make it quick, cause there will not only be no computer games, there will also be no computers, plastic bags and medicines.

I'm not even kidding.

Holy fucking shit.

I got curious when you posted this and did some Googling.

I suggest everyone read

Pretty fucking sobering stuff. Thanks for enlightening me.

On the bright side, I need not feel irresponsible for not having started my pension fund yet. I doubt there will be any functioning banking when I reach retirement age (another 40 years), let alone any pensions.

Yeah. I found out a few months ago. Right now I'm considering between stocking up on ammo for the upcoming pandemonium and stocking up on plastics.
