Hello fellow weebgers. I come merely to ask but one thing: is there any reason to play Persona 3 FES for PS2 over Persona 3 Reload? I only ask because it says that it is a "modern" remaster/remake and I do not know if that means quality of life improvements, casualization, or changing the localization.
Take a look at the list of changes to form your own opinion. I think that the addition of "baton pass" alone makes Reload superior to the original experience.

I have been playing P3 Reload. I'm between Boss 1 & 2. I had played P3 FES and Portable on PSP.

I would lie if I told you I didn't enjoy my time in P3 Reload, but it still feels like an inferior experience in everything but presentation. Control over your party members or not is a dilemma down to personal preference, but it added some unpredictability in the original P3 that was part of its charm. The lack of being tired mechanic is also annoying. Not only did it force you in the past to use everyone to maximize your experience in Tartarus, but apparently now I can do shit every evening without being tired the day after ? What ?

I probably won't buy it and keep P3 FES once it leaves game pass.

It's still nice for what it is, I guess.

What is the recommended time to tackle Tartarus? I realize it's probably best to do it all up to the block in one go (that much seems obvious), but should I do it at the start of the month or towards the end?

Start pros: more money for the month

Towards the end pros: better social links for the actual run

is there more to the cost/benefit?

It doesn't really matter as you rarely have something better to do in the evening and because most social links provide no bonuses. I always did it as soon as a new section was available to get it out of the way. You can also wait until a person goes missing (this usually happens twice in a month) and do everything in one go. That's probably the optimal way to do it if you can conserve enough skill points.

Does P3 have less filler dialogue than P5?

I want to play a Persona game with my (teen) daughter as she'll probably love it, but I dread at the prospect of re-reading all that shitty dialogue in P5. Hopefully, P3R has less of it?

She would probably be more happy with P4G - better characters, writing, and better game overall.

P4 and P5 did a lot to make you feel the gang is a tight crew and good friends with everyone. P3's crew is more a bunch of strangers who to a certain degree hate each other and wouldn't be together if not for the MC. P3 is more no frills and focused on the plot than character development, which is both a good thing and a bad one. Since P3 is still a game where the plot doesn't really get started until the game is 70% done just like the other Persona games.

I'm playing this right now and have no idea where you get this from. There's some animosity in the fringes of the group and one (1) example of actual hatred that is resolved the second it is introduced, but "hate" in general?

I enjoy the feeling of school mates bound by circumstances rather than "BFFs <3" since the latter is so prevalent in squad RPGs. It makes the friendships that do bloom feel kind of natural and the small moments of trust feel earned rather than relying on "we're BFFs 'cause the plot told us to be."

Not that the writing or characterization is anything great, it's a teen RPG, but the feel is at least somewhat novel compared to many other RPGs.

What I don't enjoy is how the protagonist is supposedly a mythic leader of men who keeps the group together through sheer force of charisma seeing as he is a silent oaf who spouts one line of dialogue max during any group interaction

Yeah, "hate" is definitely not it. SEES is basically two cliques of coworkers - senpais and kouhais. With some overlap, as Akihiko and Junpei are bros, and Yukari and Mitsuru are eventually bros. But they are not a tight-knit group of friends the way P4 team is. And while MC is the combat leader, Mitsuru is the one in charge of SEES as a whole.
