The fact that you are serious is much more triggering than the statement. In therms of survival-craft is vastly inferior to 7d2d(which has guns that looks like guns instead of toys) and the rpg elements are non existent. Not mentioning dialog wheels.
FL76 is worse than FL4 and I refunded FL4 after realizing how shitty it was.
LOL. a lot of guys pretend to play but I posted a lot of DOS games in screenshot thread. The last AAA game that I bought in day one was Battlefield 1. And I`m trying to make a 3do emulator work on my Debian only to play AD&D slayer. TBH when I joined Codex, with D&D, I was only interested in high to epic level 3.5e stuff. Playing AD&D adaptations from 90s made me appreciate mid level D&D much more(still don`t like low level, but loved Ravenloft Strahd possession + Stone prophet + Menzoberranzan)
So many people say that people only like it by nostalgia but I played this games with zero nostalgia in mind and loved them all. Except Spelljammer : Pirates of the realmspace. Not because the game is bad but because is too buggy to be enjoyed

People call this thread "Trigger Codex with a statement", and these statements are joke at best.
But not me.
I am 100% serious.
Fallout 76 is a Good game.
It has better RPG system than 4, functionally work for Single player RPG, innovated upon "perk based" RPG system. It bring back classic dialogue picker. And a lot of flavour dialogue checks are for roleplaying purposes (mostly because quest are solved mostly via combat).
IF Fallout 5 based their RPG system on Fallout 76, it will be a good game.
Most normals (who mostly liked New vegas) need only concern themselves with writing which still a concerning issue in any Bethesda RPG.

Sure, can be less trash than 4. But there is a huge gap between less trash than 4 and "good" or even "average". But I can`t play a shooter which its guns look like toys. I even have a thread about atrocious bugthesda gun design > why-bugthesda-cant-design-a-proper-gun.150069/

Sorry to say, but your arbitrary gap-ing system isn't a universal truth.
I don't consider any Fallout game a shooter. I don't consider Fallout 76 or 4 to be a shooter. I don't care whether gun looks like a flying dildo or "real life guns".
All I care about is: "Gun" - it's a "Rifle" type "weapon". It uses ".45 Ammo" to "Cast", it has "Commando, Ground Pounder, Tank Killer Perks" to increase its efficacy.
RPG System wise all Bethesda Fallout titles are solid, and 76's RPG System is considerably better than 4's - what normies usually complain about is actually Quest Writing, but they couldn't articulate it correctly (without their favorite youtuber (propagandist) creating a catchphrase to parrot) so they say "4/76 bad RPG", while having 69 billion hours combined playing CoD/Team Fortress 2/Ballsdriver 2/Ballshammer 69k etc.
So no, I do not care about "gun design" like most normies/tourist often do. If you want shooty shooty game, play other games.

Here is a triggering fact, Genders mattered in old RPG`s, you had female only dialog options in FL1/2, different attributes depending on race and gender in Arena/Daggerfall/Morrowind and later, become cosmetic only. Now is ... Androgynous body type A vs Androgynous body type B...

I scantily play non-rpg titles so I do not know how Fallout 4/76 fare against 7d2d.
I think Fallout 4 rpg system is decent. The ditch the number but the underlying esoteric calculation still exist. Instead of "I have 55 on unarmed skill so it means I am decent at it", the game told you that you have 2 ranks in unarmed, which give you 25% more damage + armor penetration, or something like that. Now you calculate that with base damage, say 10, add that modifier - it become easier to understand and less esoteric. Now compare it to previous Fallout, 64 pistol skills - what did you actually get except for abstract ideas of your character "getting good" at something.
It's the same thing if the game just force you to spent certain amount of points to skills, say 15 skills per increase (like "Tag!"). Bethesda just give the label for each 15 skills point bought you get this amount damage and this etc.
Think of it like lockpicking skill in New Vegas, 25 easy, 50 average etc. Fallout 4 system simply let you purchase "25 points" (1 rank).
