  1. Preview RPGDot on E3 RPGs

Given their previous track record, who actually thinks that Oblivion will ship this year? I mean really.

Call in the cryptographers! That system is WAY too advanced! Hahaha yes advanced indeed. Simple squad-based tactics games like Silent Storm have more advanced character systems. So, how's the demo?
  4. Game News Silent Storm dubbed GameSpot's Best Game No One Played

Yeah I liked the idea of weapon familiarity too. In a game where guns aren't all that much different and/or are discovered at a very slow pace it would be a super-great game mechanic to introduce some hysteresis. It would give the player a reason to not constantly swap to the flavor of the day...
  5. Game News Silent Storm dubbed GameSpot's Best Game No One Played

Sniping (or should one say long range battle using rifles) is hard to avoid when you get an encounter in the middle of nowhere with no houses or vegetation. CQB in what quarters? The technology in Silent Storm is extremly impressive and almost equally under-used. CQBs with penetrable walls...

Yup. And that's why I don't think JA2 is that much better than SS. It is noticably better of course with the dialog, Panzerkleins and story being what they are in SS, but when it comes down to it it's still waaaaay too much about laying your top two marksmen on their stomachs, sniping away.
  7. Review Bloodlines reviewed by GamersInfo?

The notion that character physical customization have to affect the animation pool is wrong. I urge anyone who doubt this to check out the tennis game Top Spin for completely awesome character physical manipulation. And as far as I could tell there was no trailer parked outside my house...
  8. Game News Silent Storm dubbed GameSpot's Best Game No One Played

Well I'm generally not interested in large scale battles. Large scale conflicts with smaller battles (think HOMM) is ok, but I care little for huge battles. Combine that with zero historical interest and/or fascination for those times, equipment and people and you have me. I just want...
  9. Game News Silent Storm dubbed GameSpot's Best Game No One Played

Does anyone know of a website that covers games with combat of the turn based variety? 'Cause I'd sure like to play one right fucking now and I can't recall reading about any since the Silent Storm expansion (and TOEE before that). Or has the world gone so completely down the shitter that...

  11. Game News Bloodlines glitch reporting forum up

The bug classification errorcode described is what most publishers use. I'm sure Leon didn't try too hard to be a snake but it DID come off a bit like weasling. All Troika games are unpolished and ship with bugs. This is unavoidable when you aim for the stars combined with no leverage against...
  12. Game News Bloodlines confirmed for the 16th

If the amount of content is as great as they say then I bet there will be a good number of bugs. So playing Half-Life will only give them some time to iron out the worst ones. It'll be interesting to see how Source handles a rpg. Engines developed for fps games usually have problems with...
  13. Game News Oblivion Screenshots

The technique will come in handy in a game where you pop in and out of dungeons often (too often?)...;) Any game that needs to render a mix of really dark areas and well lit areas will benefit from this technique that dynamically operates to constantly make the most of the limited brightness...
  14. Game News Oblivion Screenshots

The "bloom" in Thief 3 and Deus Ex 2 is a cheap hack to simulate the "bloom" they are using in next gen games like Oblivion, Unreal 3 etc. The action game Far Cry recently released a patch where there is a beta version of the next gen type of "bloom". Check out this video to see it in...
  15. Interview Dungeon Siege II Q&A at GameSpot

This is turning in to Progress Quest quicker than I had imagined possible. No seriously, what exactly IS there left for the gamer to do after they remove cornerstone after cornerstone in the action rpg experience?
